(the poem)

an emerald tree stands tall

has no roots doesn’t fall

its branches drink azure blue

and beckon vincent s night

no van dyke nor sienna hue

umber brings deep slumber too

it s me and it is you

it rises up majestically oh so true

look real close

what do you see

an empty sky

no carpet ride no jack and jill

no fireflies or wooden boy

a wicked witch to cast her spells

no popsicle house nor wishing well

no tinker bell or goldilocks

look beyond you ll see no dream

only green and a lonely house

can you see the moment when you ll come to be

a flash of light before your life began

the toys flew off into the sky

the ones you played with once upon a time

memories beyond your grasp

taken from you for such a long long while

don’t forget them or it might take your breath away

one fine day they will make you smile

Amma, The Red Tree, could be seen rocking Anthony in the distance. The moon glistened and reflected the light from the chain and it cast his image upon her bark.

He delighted in his own shadow and thought about how wonderful his life might be if only he was that big. He grew to love Amma and called her Mother Redwood.

With each motion he imagined himself to be Orion and he breathed in the light from the warrior’s belt as though it were an elixir of magic to fill him with a warm glow, and love and peacefulness.
